CNOOC Ltd. started production at the Kenli 6-1 Oilfield 10-1 North Block Development project south of Bohai Sea.
Kenli 10-1 North block, in average water depth of about 19 m, is the main component of Kenli 6-1 oilfield, which is the first 100 million ton oilfield discovered north of Laizhou Bay, the operator said in a release Sept. 13. The project includes unmanned production, modularization of engineering construction, integration of appraisal and development, and sharing of old and new infrastructure.
Production infrastructure includes one production platform and two unmanned wellhead platforms. Up to 25 development wells are planned (16 production wells, nine water injection wells). Peak production of about 7,100 b/d is expected in 2023.
In 2020, the KL6-1-3 discovery well was drilled and completed in water depth of 1,596 m. It encountered oil pay zones with a total thickness of 20 m. The well was tested to produce around 1,178 b/d of oil (OGJ Online, Mar. 16, 2020).
